BUSINESS / ORGANIZATION:
The Beauty Initiative Inc.South Florida
ABOUT THE BUSINESS / ORGANIZATION:Our mission is simple -- we believe Hygiene + Help = HOPE! We provide several initiatives that promote and provide hygiene in hopes of restoring dignity to our community members that are experiencing homelessness and/or financial hardship.
These programs aim to provide, teach and support hygiene for all, no matter your age, economic status, or any other varying factors. Since our beginning in 2017, we have traveled and spoken to many to bring awareness to the lack of hygienic supplies given to the ones who need it most.
Currently serving Broward and Miami-Dade counties, The Beauty Initiative, Inc. aims to continue reaching homeless and under-represented communities across the state, and one day the country. Supporting our fellow men and women doesn’t stop once we hand over a dollar or two to the person you may pass on the street. We aim to spread the importance of accessible hygiene for ALL through the support of our friends in need, our youth and our community, and our initiative, Hygiene4All.
What makes our organization so special is that all of events are a party with a purpose! Volunteers are invited from various walks of life with music, food, giveaways but one BIG purpose. Our packing events are a guaranteed good time that will also make each attendee feel even better about giving back to those that need it most.
THE STORY:The Beauty Initiative Inc. began with the mission of teaching basic beauty skills to women who were transitioning from homelessness back to the workforce basic. We also emphasized the true meaning of beauty and self love.
More than once, I had witnessed a homeless woman roaming the streets of South Florida with blood-stained pants. A question came to mind that is rarely brought up in conversation, “What do homeless women do when they are on their periods?” With much research I learned that feminine hygiene items were a scarce for women that were homeless; forcing them to improvise with socks, tissue or go without. I had to take action. For my 30th birthday, in lieu of gifts, I asked my family, friends, and social media following to donate tampons and pads to this cause. I had no idea we would collect over 7,000 items and subsequently be sponsored by Walgreens to match our efforts! A one day event has become a passion for me, our inaugural initiative: Help Her, period.
That one question led to the creation of, not only one initiative, but three (and counting!) that have already grown and served our communities in ways we never imagined! In one year to my utter amazement we were able to donate over 150,000 hygienic items in Florida and Georgia. My hope is to continue to travel to serve other communities that could benefit from our mission.

One of my goals that I am working diligently to achieve to donate to the schools in the areas that cannot afford menstrual supplies for the female students.
Another is to launch our next initiative which is Hygiene University. The focus is to teach children in schools the importance of hygiene, along with our mobile hygiene unit that will allow them to learn hands on skills.
One rule/principle that I live by is to always remember the reason why you started and remember who you serve. There's not a day that goes by that I am tired or have used my personal funds for this mission. Yet I HAVE TO! If I don't, I will always be concerned about the women going without.
OUTLOOK:One personal tidbit about me is that I love my family! LITERALLY! Without them, I could not keep this mission going, God favored me with an amazing family.
Personal interests : I love reading and volunteering to help others build their dreams.
