ABOUT THE BUSINESS / ORGANIZATION:Leading Like a Girl, LLC, is a boutique career coaching firm known for our specialized coaching program focused on building the leadership skills and careers of women and girls. Our holistic approach to coaching is effective for career seekers wanting to find their passion and career path for life. I help women and girls like you figure out who they are and what is important to them, so that they can create the life they want but on their own terms! My focus is on helping my clients take an inside-out approach to designing a life and a career of fulfillment.
For twenty years, I climbed the corporate ladder, doing what was necessary to be successful. In 2008, my life was turned upside down after experiencing a corporate layoff due to right-sizing. Initially, I did not see this as a positive experience, but in a few short months, I began to count my blessings. I was led to a position of service by accepting employment with the City of Atlanta. I currently serve as the Deputy Chief Information Officer leading the Enterprise Project Management Office.
I have an opportunity every day to change lives, to transform a city one project at a time. So, I want to say that there is an after this opportunity waiting for you...I know how you feel. I have walked in your shoes of success, failure, frustration, fear, wanting, and waiting. Instead of lamenting, I chose to make lemonade out of the lemons of life and you can too!
After my right-sizing experience, not only did I find a new career in government but I found my love and passion for coaching. I became a Certified Leadership and Life Coach and have used my gift in private, public and nonprofit sectors to empower people to live their best lives.
My experience taught me to search for authenticity, fulfillment, and to define success on my terms. These are the same things I share with my clients. I help them create the alignment they need to be authentic, fulfilled, and successful according to their personal desires and goals.

ROADBLOCKS AND CHALLENGES:
There are two core principles that guide my life:
- Do unto others what you would have them do unto you (basically, treat people like you want to be treated).
- Do not ask people to do things that you are not willing to do—actually, where possible be the first to do so.
I am an avid reader, so I have an extensive library at home and at work; books are around me at all times—in my house, car, work bag, in my office and on audio—always feeding my mind.
Coaching is my passion and I share my gift daily.
I have always had the gift of gab. LOL. I am a woman who never meets a stranger. I may not start the conversation, but once it's begun my desire is to get to know you. I have a few very close friends because I hold friendships as a sacred and special place in my life. I have been told that my personality is open, motivating, inspiring, and collaborative. I thrive in environments that are dynamic and fast-paced, and I believe this is the space that God has given me to make my mark. As a child, I wanted to become a lawyer. While I am not a lawyer, I am an advocate for others. I learned early on in life that if a rule applied to one it should apply for all, but that's not the way life is so when I would see or hear about injustices, I would get involved. Sometimes as a child or young person, I was not allowed to get involved but as soon as I could, I would use my voice and influence to help someone who felt voiceless. In high school, I was voted most likely to succeed and I am reminded daily that people are watching and waiting on me. I realized early on that my life is not my own; to live a life of fulfillment is to serve others with the gift that God has given us. As a coach, I have an opportunity almost daily to use my gift of voice, creativity, and passion to partner with my clients as they prepare for transformational change.
