BUSINESS / ORGANIZATION:
Leading Through Living CommunityDouglasville, Georgia
ABOUT THE BUSINESS / ORGANIZATION:We are a multifaceted organization that uses our talents and connections to help people birth their business dreams. We do this as publishers of books and magazines, producers of radio and TV programs and stage plays, business coaches and consultants to small businesses and entrepreneurs, and workshop facilitators who train people to be Masterful Business Leaders.
Our mission is to help people become 3PAs: people of Purpose, Passion, and Power -- ready to take bold and positive action! It takes a collection of very talented individuals, all of whom we have in our organization, to help our clients to achieve that goal. When they are empowered, our clients are ready to go out into the world to share that knowledge and experience with their communities. This is how we will positively impact the world and change it into the marvelous place it was meant to be for future generations.
THE STORY:I am an attorney and CPA, and was doing very well. Then, about 5 years ago, the Lord moved me to write a book detailing my experiences, some good and some not so good, about becoming the woman I was at that time. It was called Leading Through Living: A Guide for Women Seeking Growth Through Leadership. I self-published the book and people read it and really enjoyed it. They invited me to come speak at their events, and that is how I became a motivational speaker.
During some of those events, people asked me to help them publish their books. But what they really wanted was for me to publish their books. And that is how I became a publisher.
About the same time I was invited to India as a delegate to the International Women's Conference in Bangalore. While I was there, God gave me a vision to start a magazine. That magazine was called “BOLD Favor.” That magazine has been used to highlight people that would inspire others to live boldly and fearlessly in this world, and it has reached the Far Corners of the world.
People saw our success and asked me to help them build their businesses to be as successful as my own. I obtained my coaching certification and began to do just that. I really love helping business owners utilize their gifts and talents God gave them to speak life over other people and energize them to be the change they want to see in the world.
This journey has helped me to be a better manager of my own people and realize that as I have changed and grown, so too, have my people. And sometimes it involves moving them into different roles and giving them different responsibilities as they grow, and sometimes parting ways so that we can become business partners.
I never know what each day will bring, but I now trust that it is all working for my good because I am working according to the purpose God called me to fulfill.
I realize I am a very blessed individual because I have the support of my family behind me. I do not take the confidence that people have in me and the trust that they place in my abilities for granted.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS / ACCOLADES / AWARDS:I have been incredibly blessed to serve alongside MAGNIFICENT people who have shared their knowledge, wisdom, and generosity as I've grown personally and professionally into the woman I am today.

RELAXATION:I love spending time with my family. My husband and I are incredibly busy, particularly since he is the pastor of St. Paul AME Church Smithfield in Birmingham, Alabama. I really treasure the time that he and our daughter Angelica spend together. Sometimes it's just watching marathons of shows on Netflix, or playing board games.
I also love taking long walks and communing with nature. I can hear God talking to me and soothing my anxieties and my worries, and giving me new activities to try and ideas on how to help my clients.
HEROES:My heroes are truly my parents. My father was once told that "no ni**er would become a successful orthodontist" in Florida. And he and my godfather worked together to prove that man wrong, despite the difficulties and challenges that came with it.
My mother was once told after my parents divorced that she needed to remarry because she would not be able to "properly raise" two daughters as a divorced woman. She did it, and my sister is a highly decorated Navy veteran and educator, and I am an attorney and CPA and manage several businesses.
Jewelle Jackson McCabe was an incredibly powerful mentor and influencer in my life path. She is the founder of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women. She invested a lot of time in me as she shared her stories and experiences during the time I led the Stone Mountain-Lithonia chapter, and many of those life lessons have helped me through to this day. I am grateful for this frontrunner of women's empowerment, and thank God for her everyday.
