#EndTheDemand

Last week, we shared Classy Living Society’s fabulous Yellow Dress Brunch in Houston, Texas.  Fun with a purpose!

Our #GoNational and #EndtheDemand initiatives are going on the road again – as we host a Yellow Dress Brunch for our Society in Tampa, Florida this coming Saturday, June 22!  We are in excited anticipation about this opportunity to create a space of sisterhood and giving back with our Tampa sisters! Once again, brunch attendees will be wearing yellow to symbolize our #EndTheDemand initiative; to bring awareness to and to take a united stand against sex and human trafficking in our society.  A anti-trafficking organization will be there to provide important information regarding this cause.

Stay tuned for photographs from our event in sunny Florida!

CLS is pleased to announce that we are continuing our human trafficking initiative by heading to Houston, Texas to host a Yellow Dress Brunch this coming Saturday, June 8!  All of the brunch attendees will be wearing their best and favorite yellow dresses.  Symbolic of our #EndTheDemand initiative, we wear yellow to bring awareness to and to take a united stand against sex and human trafficking in our society.

Our special guest nonprofit will be the Houston area anti-trafficking nonprofit organization, The Landing. The Landing is a daytime drop-in center for those who are at the intersections of life—a place of comfort and rest for all-aged male, female, and transgender victims of human trafficking or sexual exploitation.

Stay tuned for photos from this wonderful event!

Getting fit while giving back was the name of the game on Saturday, January 26 for a number of CLS members.  LL Dance and Fitness, in partnership with Classy Living Society, held a Zumba fundraiser to end the human & sex trafficking demand.  A portion of the proceeds were donated to Wellspring Living, whose mission is to transform the lives of those at risk or who are victimized by sexual exploitation.  The ladies also collected women’s toiletries, including tampons, lotions, shampoo and other like items for donation.

Founded in 2002, Polaris is named for the North Star, which people held in slavery in the United States used as a guide to navigate their way toward freedom. Today, Polaris is filling in the roadmap for that journey and lighting the path ahead.  Click on the link to read more about Polaris and what they are doing to make freedom happen now for thousands of victims of human trafficking.

“Joy is found when you focus your energy on improving human dignity, human capacity and human values” – Amit Ray

As we continue our focus on Human and Sex Trafficking this month, we shine the spotlight on Free the Girls, an international 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to provide support to sex trafficking survivors with a path to true freedom. It’s a journey from horrific trauma to reintegrating into the life they were meant to live within their family and community. Their goal for true freedom is measured by economic freedom, restored health, social well-being, education, and opportunity for a different, hopeful future.  They wanted to answer the question, “What are these women being rescued to?”  Please read more about Free the Girls by clicking on the link below.  It is an extraordinary organization that envisions a world in which previously enslaved women are leading vibrant, successful, integrated lives.

As we move through January, Human Trafficking Awareness Month, our focus this week is on an amazing nonprofit called Wellspring Living.  The organization has been serving survivors of childhood sexual abuse and exploitation since 2001.  They are devoted to safeguarding and empowering domestic sex trafficking victims and those at risk to develop the courage to move forward and the confidence to succeed.  Through life-giving residential and community-based programs, girls and young women are provided the opportunity to live and dream again.

Wellspring Living is preparing for the 2019 Superbowl in Atlanta, Georgia by working with Deborah Richardson and the International Human Trafficking Institute to bring awareness and action to prevent trafficking leading up to, during, and after the Super Bowl.  Atlanta is known as a major transportation hub when it comes to trafficking and activity is projected to increase during the Super Bowl.  The International Human Trafficking Institute is working with the Super Bowl Host Committee to be proactive against trafficking during this major event.
