Getting fit while giving back was the name of the game on Saturday, January 26 for a number of CLS members. LL Dance and Fitness, in partnership with Classy Living Society, held a Zumba fundraiser to end the human & sex trafficking demand. A portion of the proceeds were donated to Wellspring Living, whose mission is to transform the lives of those at risk or who are victimized by sexual exploitation. The ladies also collected women’s toiletries, including tampons, lotions, shampoo and other like items for donation.
As we move through January, Human Trafficking Awareness Month, our focus this week is on an amazing nonprofit called Wellspring Living. The organization has been serving survivors of childhood sexual abuse and exploitation since 2001. They are devoted to safeguarding and empowering domestic sex trafficking victims and those at risk to develop the courage to move forward and the confidence to succeed. Through life-giving residential and community-based programs, girls and young women are provided the opportunity to live and dream again.
Wellspring Living is preparing for the 2019 Superbowl in Atlanta, Georgia by working with Deborah Richardson and the International Human Trafficking Institute to bring awareness and action to prevent trafficking leading up to, during, and after the Super Bowl. Atlanta is known as a major transportation hub when it comes to trafficking and activity is projected to increase during the Super Bowl. The International Human Trafficking Institute is working with the Super Bowl Host Committee to be proactive against trafficking during this major event.
