To the Moon & Back Foundation, Inc.

Atlanta, GA

To the Moon & Back Foundation, Inc. was established in honor of my mother, Theresa Moon, who exemplified paying it forward through her generous acts. At the young age of 49, my mother passed away due to a rare form of cancer called Leiomyosarcoma. This 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation is committed to changing communities through the power of giving by implementing initiatives focused on education, health and community engagement that uplifts the mission to "pay it forward today to make a better tomorrow."

I am known as The Public Health Philanthropist because I intentionally combine my public health skills and heart to pay it forward by empowering others to live the healthiest versions of themselves. A comprehensive healthy lifestyle includes bringing joy to one’s mind, body, and soul. I devote my time, talent and treasures to causes that enrich my community that are dear to my heart, including mentoring the next generation of public health leaders.

I am a proud native of the Nobel Prize and Pulitzer Prize winner Toni Morrison’s hometown of Lorain, Ohio. Morrison’s words and model example of excellence inspired me-a little brown girl without "The Bluest Eye" that our small hometown is not a barrier to having your big dreams become a reality. I am a first-generation college student who is a loyal Buckeye receiving both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from The Ohio State University.

My track record as a Public Health Strategist led to honors including the Atlanta Business Chronicle 40 Under 40, Georgia Women’s Legislative Caucus Nikki T. Randall Servant Leadership Award, Atlanta Chapter of Young Government Leaders’ YoungGov40 Award, Influencer of Change Distinguished Service Award, Champion for Good Health Award, Buckeyes Under 40, Steed Media Rolling Out Magazine’s Top 25 Women of Atlanta and Who’s Who Black Atlanta.

I am extremely honored by these awards but no accolade can outshine my proudest accomplishment which is the establishment of To the Moon & Back Foundation, Inc. in honor of my mother, mentor, and muse, Theresa Moon! The Foundation allows my family’s legacy to live beyond my years on earth.

Personal LifeShare

Growing up as an only child, I used my imagination to be creative. I was always into the arts from hip hop dancing to drawing. In high school, I started a stepping team and was a Fine Arts student who won a gold medal from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, Inc. for a watercolor piece. I have transitioned my love of visual art into home décor and fashion. I have always loved throwing a good themed celebration to entertain and unite my family and friends. As a child, my mother introduced me to skating and I can often be found at Cascade Skating Rink for a good nostalgic roll bounce!

I envision To the Moon & Back Foundation, Inc. continuing to thrive and implementing impactful initiatives in both Atlanta, Georgia and Lorain, Ohio. I also have a personal goal of establishing a travel scholarship for a deserving Ohio State student to enjoy a memorable lifetime experience of exploring an international journey compliments of the Foundation.
