BUSINESS / ORGANIZATION:

The JCS Project

Houston, TX

ABOUT THE BUSINESS / ORGANIZATION:
The JCS Project (Just College Students) focuses on encouraging young students to not only go to college, but also to finish. We do this by giving FREE College Care Packages. The care packages that we give are not just boxes of food, school supplies and materials, they are also packed with encouraging words, volunteer opportunities throughout the community and most importantly LOVE!

THE STORY:
It all started when my cousin, Taylor Jones, enrolled at Blinn College. I felt it was my responsibility to provide for her, so I began sending her money in the mail. After that, the idea fell upon my heart to start providing FREE College Care Packages, not only to her, but also to a few other cousins and coworkers' children. What started out as a project to send care packages to five girls has now expanded to sending encouragement to over 3000 students.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS / ACCOLADES / AWARDS:
While The JCS Project has received numerous awards for community service, my proudest moments have been seeing all the college students who have received packages graduate!!!

SUCESS:
In my opinion, success is defined by helping at least one student. The worst part of success is that I cannot help them all.

OUTLOOK:
In the next five to 10 years, I foresee JCS being able to expand its Campus Tour. Currently, we drive to multiple colleges throughout the year to distribute 100 Free College Care Packages. Currently, we attend six to 10 schools a year, and I would love to expand to Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, California and beyond!
