Oh, the Places You Will Go! – One Woman’s Story of Daring to Live Her Dreams

Oh, the Places You Will Go! – One Woman’s Story of Daring to Live Her Dreams

Happy Fourth of July!  I hope you are enjoying your day with family and friends, even better – I hope you’re at the beach lavishing in the aura of sun, sand and sea!  Speaking of sun, sand and sea….

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away! – from Oh, The Places You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss

I’m doing something a little different this week.  I want to share a story with you that so inspired me, and I’m always tickled to follow this young lady’s journey into living her dreams.

I met Deorrah Hardy a few years ago during a community service event hosted by Classy Living Society when she was working for the Georgia Lighthouse Foundation.  She was our coordinator for the event, and upon meeting her, I was struck by her positive energy and friendly spirit.  During that morning, we all laughed and talked with her as if we knew her all along.  She and I began to follow one another on social media, and through that connection I learned she is also a very accomplished artist.

Fast forward to a couple of years later, she posted on Facebook that she was packing up and moving to Jamaica!  I was so envious of her courage and freedom!  What fascinated me the most was how she put her plan into action.  After returning home from a visit to Jamaica, she made a promise to herself through a written journal entry that a year from that time, she’d be finalizing her move to Jamaica.  And that’s exactly what happened.

After taking up residency in Jamaica, she fell into her niche, becoming an entrepreneur and owner of Dee’s Tropical Paint Parties, hosting paint parties for island tourists and resort guests.  Amazing!  I applaud this bold sister – not just for recognizing it was time to make a change in her life, but for actually taking the leap of faith and making the change!  How many of us can say that?   There’s something to be said for writing your goals down on paper and setting markers for yourself.  It is undoubtedly a practice that will speak life into your dreams and hold you accountable to them.

Below is a link to a blogpost on the Point of View Villa & Spa website about Dee and her incredible story. I hope you are inspired by her story as much as I have been.  Also follow her on Instagram @tropicalpaintparties!

Oh and hey…I think I forgot to mention…she also found LOVE!  Wooooooooo!!!  Click on the link and enjoy! Oh, the places you will go…

Thanks Janine for profiling Deorrah in the Chronicletoo blog. I met her through our FVSU Alumni page last year and have been following her endeavors ever since. She is so positive and enlightens the spirit to push yourself for better. Even though through resiliency I reached a goal, reading D’s article puts a smile on my face to see her soar. She pursued her calling and is doing well. It makes me wake up to’see the places I can go’. Thanks love for another great read.

This is so inspiring and serves as a reminder to myself to write down my goals and do what it takes to achieve them! This lady is bold and brave, characteristics I am developing in myself. Thanks for sharing!
