It was the most wonderful time of the year at the Annual Classy Living Society Mingle Jingle on Thursday evening, December 20! This year’s holiday mixer was held at the Taylor-Brawner Hall, a charming reconstructed two-story Greek Revival-style multi-purpose facility in the heart of the City of Smyrna, Georgia. The event center was beautifully decorated for the season, which made it the most apropos backdrop for this merry holiday event. It was a splendid and elegant all black attire, “member-plus-one” affair; the event invitation this year was open for members to invite their spouse, significant other or friend. The DJ rocked the house on the 1’s and 2’s, and the attendees rocked the dance floor! There was even a Soul Train line and Soul Train Scramble Board! Everyone had so much fun – mingling, enjoying a delicious menu of goodies including a festive punch, dancing, posing for photos with whimsical props and, of course, giving back!
On the eve of the first day of winter, the Classy Living Society Coat drive amassed 150+ coats for children! Viewing the huge mound of coats and knowing that they will keep many children warm this winter was a very moving and gratifying experience. As CLS Founder LaShanda Pitts stated, “There is simply nothing better than celebrating the holiday with a worthwhile giving back initiative; after all, it’s the reason for the Season.” The coats donated by CLS members and friends benefited One Warm Coat, a national non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a free warm coat to any person in need. No one should go cold this winter! Read all about One Warm Coat and to see how you can help at www.onewarmcoat.org.
Mingling with like-minded women and working side-by-side for a cause was the order of the evening – volunteering, socializing and inspiring – it’s what CLS does! Happy Holidays to all!
