Did you know that there is an entire week dedicated to volunteering? This year, Volunteer Week will be held April 7 – April 13. Classy Living Society is founded on the basis of volunteering, so imagine how excited we are to celebrate during this week! Along with individual volunteer opportunities throughout the week, CLS will sponsor our very own EPIC opening and closing volunteer events!!!
Sunday, April 7, 2019 11:00 am – 2:00 pm:
Classy Living Society will kick off Volunteer Week with an exclusive “Taste of CLS,” a fundraiser for CLS to sponsor a room for one year at the Ronald McDonald House in Tampa, Florida.
Members of CLS will have an opportunity to enter dishes into one of four categories and a winner will be selected from each of the following categories:
- Side Dish
- Meat Dish
- Main Dish
(Additional details and contest rules will be provided)
This is a family event! Members can bring their children; there will be a designated area for the children to write letters to military veterans to help get them in the volunteer spirit as well.
Taste Participant Entry Fee: $30
Adult General Admission: $25.
Children are free!
All proceeds will go toward the room sponsorship at the Ronald McDonald House. We are also requesting a donation of $25 from members who will not be attending the event (including members of Societies who are not in Atlanta) to go toward this worthwhile effort.
Saturday, April 13, 2019 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm:
We will close out Volunteer Week with the launch of our quarterly signature event – “CLS Presents – Society Saturday. On each future Society Saturday, all CLS Societies in each state will participate in this synchronized effort. Our inaugural event will be a spin-off of our Get on the Bus events — we will “Get on the Bus… and Volunteer.” Members will have the opportunity to get on a charter bus and commute to various organizations around Metro Atlanta to volunteer. In true CLS Get On the Bus fashion, meals and libations will be served; there will be an opportunity to shop with CLS concessionaires, raffles, and much more on the bus. This will present a unique opportunity for members to complete their required quarterly volunteer hours! Not only is this a fun way to sisterbond, this “Get on the Bus” objective falls in line with the principles of CLS Cares; that is, ridesharing, i.e. park your car and “carpool” to various community service events, provides a more eco-friendly mode of transportation as we volunteer!
After the volunteering is done, we will get off the bus and “Party on the Brick” at Centennial Olympic Park in front of our very own adopted brick!!! The cost to get on the bus will be $30. What an amazing way to close out the 2019 Volunteer Week!
Throughout the week, CLS asks all members to engage in individual volunteer opportunities and post them to social media using the hashtag #CLSEpicVolunteerWeek2019.
We look forward to setting an example of what volunteering can look like and how fun can it be! Join your sisters of Classy Living Society for our very own Epic 2019 Volunteer Week!!!
